Is it also possible to make a good schnapps with flavour without expensive equipment? I am living very far away from civilisation, so I would like to make a mango schnapps with simple equipment? Do you have any ideas?

yes, I have made quite nice 'mangovice' (schnapps clear spirit). Freeze your mangoes if you have a freezer and then defrost. This makes it easier to get all the pulp off the stone. Then mash it up really well and simply put it in a fermenter/clean food grade vessel. Add sugar to ensure good alcohol content and water. I guess you could experiment with different volumes but I had about 9litres of mango pulp, 3kg sugar and water up to a total volume of 20l. Then add a good yeast, like lalvin ec1118.Allow to ferment then strain the mash and distil with a potstill. read up on how to do that. you can make a still if you are handy. you will find good info on the internet.
